JIM Evans came with a late rattle to snatch the Chadderton Mill AC Winter League.

Long-time leader Darren Webb looked set to be crowned the champion going into the final round.

But Evans, by claiming third place with 61lb of carp and maggot up in the water at 11 metres, pipped his rival on the post.

The winner on the day was Graham Mitchell (Trabrucco Halifax).

He had a super 77lb catch, which included 30lb of ide on maggot up in the water and a dozen carp on the waggler and maggot.

Final league standings (top four): 1, Jim Evans 24 points; 2, Darren Webb 25pts; 3, Graham Mitchell 26pts; 4, Phil Hulme 27pts.
