DIGGLE defeated title-chasing Netherton 3-2 at home in Huddersfield and District League Division One.
Diggle broke the deadlock in a tight opening period just before the break, when Matthew Jackson volleyed home a corner from 10 yards out.
The hosts doubled their advantage after 57 minutes, substitute Matthew Taylor netting from close range thanks in no small part to a defensive mix-up.
A 30-yard pile-driver gave Netherton a lifeline and they levelled matters from the penalty spot with 19 minutes remaining.
However, six minutes later Diggle bagged the winner when Nathan Boote cut inside and smashed home.
Elsewhere in Division One, Uppermill defeated Slaithwaite United 1-0.
HEYSIDE kept up the pressure on the leading duo in Reserve Division Two with a 4-3 win at home to Honley.
Despite falling behind after 10 minutes, the hosts hit back to lead 2-1 — Matthew Nokes got both goals — but they conceded again before the break.
Slopping defending allowed Honley to go in front again, only for Steven Partington to level things up almost immediately.
And they snatched the spoils with five minutes left, thanks to Mark Kingsley’s effort.
