GOLF: FROM potting snooker balls to putting golf balls, they all come the same to new Brookdale captain Chris Gleave.
Some of his snooker-playing friends got the freelance photographer “hooked” on golf 15 years ago.
“I played a little bit, but nothing serious,” said Chris, married to Denise and a father of two.
“When I joined Brookdale, I was hooked straight away.
Chris, who has three grand children, is a much-respected freelance photographer and enjoys a variety of work. Some of his pictures have appeared in the Chronicle.
One of his recent jobs was travelling the country, capturing golf courses at daybreak and dusk.
While he has proved proficient on the greens, he is equally at home on the green baize.
The 55-year-old said: “My highest break is 82.
“I play for Home Guard in Failsworth. They are in Division One of the North Manchester League.”
Chris is raising money for Manchester Children’s Hospital this year — a cause close to his heart — and has plenty of events planned.
He added: “We’ve got raffles, auctions and golf days coming up, so it’s going to be a very busy time.”
