WORTH A GO: Rob Flynn (left), of Heyside, tries a shot during the Huddersfield and District League Division Two clash with Scholes.
Heyside 4, Scholes 1
FOTBALL: LOOK out Uppermill and Diggle, because on the evidence of this performance Heyside will be challenging you strongly in the top flight of the Huddersfield and District League next season.
But Heyside, top of Division Two with just one game left to play, must first rely on other results going their way as the teams immediately below them have games in hand.
This latest win was a ruthless sweep-aside of second-placed Scholes in a 20-minute second-half spell on Royton and Crompton 3G.
Jason Taylor, signed from Royton Town midway through this season and already with 19 goals to his name, bossed the midfield, while another former Town player, Jason Titterington, bagged a hat-trick.
By a strange twist of irony, Heyside's final game will be away to Scholes on Thursday, May 3.
Slack marking in defence allowed Scholes to take the lead in the fourth minute, but in a first half devoid of many chances, Titterington took one which came his way with a controlled 18-yards drive after 35 minutes.
Towards the hour mark and Titterington was on hand again to force the ball home.
It was 3-1 to Heyside after 68 minutes when Rob Flynn headed home from eight yards, while Titterington completed his treble with 10 minutes left with a similar effort.
