ROYTON laid down a marker for the 2012 Lake Garage CLL season with an emphatic win at Littleborough.
The hosts, usually tough to beat on their home turf, were brushed aside by seven wickets.
Boro’s batting was blown away by Royton’s young attack, 19-year-old medium pacer Liam Brown bowling 10 maiden overs in an unchanged spell of four for 20, and 20-year-old Matthew Hodson collecting three for 15.
Royton’s other debutant, former Oldham skipper Chris McDonnell, made an instant impact with the crucial run out of home pro Clinton Perren.
McDonnell followed up with the top score of 26 as Royton reached their target for the loss of three wickets to secure maximum points.
