Angling: SIMON Walton (Maver NW) took first place in an open match on the Lorry park length of the Rochdale Canal.

His end peg draw paid off with 17 small perch taken on bits of worm fished all over his peg weighing in at 1lb 5oz.

That beat Tony Price (TRI-CAST Rochdale) with his caster approach netting him an early match big roach that wasn’t far of a pound adding two tiny roach on bread punch to weigh in a level 1lb.



COLIN Stansfield came out on top in the Todmorden AS match fished on Croft fishery with his tip and corn approach earning him 26lb 8oz of carp.
He beat Peter Fitton into second



CRAIG Bradford topped a closely-fought Medlock Bridge AC match fished on the Park Lake with his waggler and maggot tactics working perfectly in the freezing conditions.
Craig caught chub to around the 1lb mark to weigh in 11lb 4oz beating Pete Humphries (Rochdale Angling) into second by just two ounces with his 11lb 2oz net made up of one good bream, two tench and some decent chub that fell to the pole, bread punch and maggot.


ANDY Hamlett took first place in the Winsford Flash open match from his draw on the yacht club side where he found a shoal of skimmers feeding.
Double red maggot fished with a groundbait feeder netted him 21 decent sized skimmers that together weighed 27lb 7oz.

That beat Oldham angler Mick McDermott (16lb 14oz) into the runner-up berth.
