Leaders hit road to Elland

RUGBY: RIDING high in Division Two of the National Conference League, in-form Waterhead head to Elland tomorrow (2.30pm).
A record of five wins out of six has lifted the Peach Road side to the summit, on points difference from East Leeds, who possess a game in hand
As for this weekend’s opponents, Elland sit mid-table after three victories in half-a-dozen outings.
WITH spirits raised after posting a first league win of the season, Saddleworth Rangers go to Oulton Raiders in a duel between the bottom teams (2.30pm). And victory would see Emmerson Jackman’s men move off the foot of the table.
COACH Chris Deakin reckons better times are just around the corner for his Oldham St Anne’s side, who play host to Hunslet Warriors in Division One (2.30pm).
Saints were beaten 22-18 by Milford Marlins last weekend, after they conceded 16 points in the first 16 minutes.
Deakin said: “I knew it was going to be difficult, especially when we had seven players missing from the previous game against Rochdale Mayfield.
“But it was a tremendous comeback and I have nothing but praise for the lads that stepped in.
“There’s still a long way to go and I’m confident we’ll climb the table.”
