TOMMY Stubbs celebrates victory over Gavin Reid.
BOXING:
TOMMY ‘2 Slick’ Stubbs lived up to his nickname with a confident points victory over Gavin Reid at Oldham Sports Centre and declared himself ready for sterner tests.
The 22-year-old Chadderton featherweight dominated his opponent from the outset in front of an appreciative home crowd.
Stubbs said: “It was easy, wasn’t it? I never felt in any danger of losing and it was a comfortable night for me.
“I am ready for harder fights and would like to be on the Ronnie Heffron bill next month.”
Should that happen, Stubbs will once again box in front of the Oldham Sports Centre contingent when Heffron goes for Central Area title glory against Liam Smith on May 18.
That fight is also a British welterweight title eliminator.
Stubbs’ Northside trainer Joe Pennington said: “Tommy boxed his head off and didn’t need to knock-out Reid.
“I feel Tommy showed his flexibility, he can switch from orthodox to southpaw when necessary and mix it up a bit.”
