MOTORCYCLING:
MOORSIDE motorbike racer Ashley Beech earned 21st place in the second round of the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship at Thruxton.
Representing ILR Kawasaki, the 23-year-old — a newcomer to the series — crossed the line in 1:20.73 despite having only completed two laps of the Hampshire circuit prior to this year’s meeting.
It came hot on the heels of his 17th-place finish at Brands Hatch in round one.
Former Team Colin Appleyard/Macadam Racing star Beech had a bad start which left him in 34th place. By the sixth lap he had gained nine places. The final lap of the race was his fastest of the weekend as he secured 21st spot.
The series resumes at Oulton Park over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
