RUGBY UNION:
IN their final North Lancashire Division One match of the season, Oldham scored all their points in the first half before producing dogged defence in the face of a Bury onslaught to secure a 19-5 win.
The match was a stop-start affair.
Oldham’s forwards held the scrum and dominated the loose play with big hits from Nick Hackman, John Souter and Jack Hawkins.
It was no surprise when Oldham took the lead in the 14th minute with a long-range try.
Soon after, Brennan and Hackman were involved in an attack which allowed wing Jordan Green to touch down.
On the half-hour, Oldham extended their lead when a move involving Souter and Hawkins released Brown, and Oldham’s top scorer finished to make it 19-0 at half-time.
After the break, Bury threw the kitchen sink at Oldham but, apart from a try, were denied by the visitors.
