Michael Wild: ready for the big game
SNOOKER:
MICHAEL Wild is in prime form as he prepares to take part in the tournaments which will decide whether he earns his place on next season’s professional snooker tour.
With World Snooker’s Q School looming next month, Moorside-based Wild showed his break-building skills in beating Wayne Brown (St Helens) 5-3 in the final of the Manchester Open at Riley’s, Belle Vue.
He hit back from 1-0 and 2-1 down to clinch victory with breaks of 92, 72, 70 and and 41 (clearance).
A fluked snooker in the last frame, in which he trailed following Brown’s 48 break, proved decisive, Wild making the most of his good fortune.
Wild could not quite get over the line in the last Pro-Ticket tournament of the season in Chesterfield.
On-song Wild was also in the money in pro-am events at Belle Vue and Leeds.
