Sarah McPhee: the Oldham Owls player is hoping to impress in Manchester.
OLDHAM Owls wheelchair basketball star Sarah McPhee insists Team GB have what it takes to win successive BT Paralympic World Cups.
The 32-year-old helped her country to their first major gold last year, beating some of the world’s best along the way.
Now she believes they can face the likes of America and Australia without fear - and come away with a second gold.
She said: “I’m really excited;, it’s a great opportunity to play against some of the best teams in the world.
“It will be a great learning curve for us, but we’re looking forward to it. It’s a good test of our ability, but we’ve been working really hard over the last 12 months, so bring it on.
“Last year saw my first major tournament and it went really well. It can’t go much better than winning gold.
“I only took up the sport less than two years ago, but now I feel almost like a veteran.
“It’s been a wonderful time, it’s a really enjoyable sport. It’s aggressive, fast-paced and sometimes brutal.”
