OLDHAM angler Pete Cuniffe is enjoying a superb season.
The Gilders rod is Mr Consistency, and showed off his skills with several high finishes at a variety of venues.
Cunnife’s performances have lifted him into the top three of the County Championship table
MARTIN Kershaw, of Oldham Owls, took first place in the Partridge Lakes OAP and disabled open match.
Using pellet close in either side, he netted 42lb 10oz of f1s, carp and ide.
FORMER Oldham and England team man Mark Lucas (Mossella) claimed top honours in the Partridge Lakes open on Covey Canal with a 55lb catch
TODMORDEN AS are staging an open match on the Rochdale Canal tomorrow.
The draw is at 9am, with fishing between 10am and 3pm.
Details: Simon on 07896 237224.
IT was hard going in the Slaithwaite AC open on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.
All I had for five hours work were eight roach on bread punch at seven metres and a solitary roach on caster at 16 metres down the peg.
The pegs were spread out, but a cold wind and an overnight frost put paid to big weights.
I’ve had some good days on this canal over the years, with a few wins and many placings, and have always gone to my peg full of confidence.
Fishing is a great leveller, and I must admit, I’ve had some cracking draws in the past, so I can’t complain too much if I get a few bad ones this time around.
