FOOTBALL:
SPRINGHEAD’S superb second half of the season continued with an emphatic 4-0 destruction of Old Alts in Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester League Premier Division.
Paul Stevenson opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a neat left- foot finish. They had to wait until the stroke of half time to make it two, with Scott Owen converting from close range.
The second period saw ’Head take their foot off the gas but they made it three just after the hour mark with Stevenson's second of the game.
With two minutes remaining Mark Ashworth scored number four.
In midweek Head extended their unbeaten run to 16 league games with a 2-0 victory over champions Hindsford — their first loss in 17.
Royton Town lost 2-1 at Stockport Georgians.
Phil Brown’s Avro side earned a 3-1 win at Dukinfield Town.
Hollinwood lost 6-1 at home to Rochdale Sacred Heart in Division One.
HEYSIDE beat Wooldale Wanderers 3-1 in Huddersfield and District League Division Two.
Leon Perry pounced twice for Heyside and Luke Hancock also hit the target.
But the side also lost 4-0 at Scholes.
Division One action saw Uppermill draw 2-2 with hosts Netherton, while Diggle lose 2-1 at Berry Brow.
It came two days before Diggle lifted the Huddersfield and District League Barlow Cup following a 4-3 victory over Kirkheaton Rovers after extra-time.
CHADDERTONIANS went down to a 4-1 home reverse at the hands of Castle Hill in Lancashire Amateur League Premier Division.
