WOODHOUSES captain Mike Cassidy has set his sights on a top-four finish in Lees Brewery Lancashire County League Division One.
The Medlock Road outfit were third last term — a campaign which will long be remembered for the club’s Persimmon Village Cup triumph at Lord’s.
The man who stole the show that day — hat-trick hero Ashley Prescott — is likely to play a key role in the push for further honours this season.
Cassidy said: “The Village Cup was a marvellous experience and people will talk about it for an awful long time.
“The one negative was that it took over everything at the club for a couple of months, and the league form was hit slightly.
“The aim is to be in the top-four at the end of the campaign. I think that would be a good achievement for this club.”
Woodhouses, who suffered a double wash-out on the opening weekend of the season, go to Woodbank tomorrow.
CROMPTON will try to succeed where Oldham failed when they entertain reigning champions Norden in the Lake Garage CLL at Glebe Street on Sunday.
The opening day of the season saw Norden defeat Oldham. But Crompton, boosted by a first-match victory over Clifton, will be hopeful of upsetting the champions.
Oldham have home advantage against Walsden and skipper Zaffer Jatoi will be desperate to see his new-look team get off the mark.
Royton demolished Little-borough in their first fixture and a similar level of performance will be needed at Radcliffe.
And Werneth will be keen to erase the memory of an opening-day defeat at Ashton when they take on Littleborough at Hare Hill.
