Another wash-out

CRICKET:
THIS weekend’s matches in the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League are OFF.
The league’s executive committee made the decision at last night’s monthly meeting.
Tomorrow’s fixtures will be played on September 15, and Sunday’s programme on September 16, extending the season by a week.
September 16 was due to be a reserve day for the Twenty20 semi-finals and final.
The meeting was in agreement that to plough on regardless this weekend would damage squares and outfields. Sunday’s forecast is for more heavy rain.
With all matches on the opening day of the season (April 22) having also fallen to the weather — these will now take place on June 23 — the 2012 campaign will get under way on May 5.
