Angling:

DARREN Stock won the Sunday open match on Hollingworth Lake.

Opting for the groundbait feeder and red maggot cast 40 yards across, he netted 21lb 14oz of bream to 3lb and some roach and perch.

Using similar tactics, Adrian Hughes was second with 17lb 4oz of bream, roach and perch.

Hollingworth is in brilliant form, with one angler catching 18 bream on groundbait feeder and red maggot for 35lb while pleasure fishing.

CONDITIONS were atrocious for the Slaithwaite open on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

With torrential rain and gale-force winds, most competitors opted for an early bath. Chris Roberts (Trabrucco Halifax), the winner, bagged two bream in a 5lb 13oz net on worm. Team-mate Stuart Campbell was second with a bream and a few roach on worm for 2lb 12oz.

IT was hard going in the open match on the Stalybridge length of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

Winner John Edwards caught small roach from start to finish with bread punch at nine metres for 3lb.

Runner-up Tony Horton also used bread punch and caster at various lengths for 1lb 14oz of roach.

PETE Cunnife claimed top honours in the Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park Lake.

The Gilders rod used the long pole and caster bait to tempt 16lb 7oz of decent bream, roach and chub.

Runner-up Bob Harrison was second with an 11lb 3oz catch made up of some good bream, tench and chub on pellet at 10 metres.

The previous Medlock Bridge AC open match on the Park Lake went to Fred Prudham, who employed the waggler and maggots for 24lb 1oz of mostly chub.

THE first of the Todmorden AS Junior matches was staged on the Ramsden Wood Fishery.

Luke Watson landed the under-16s match with a 10lb 10oz catch made up of two good bream, two carp and some roach.

PAUL Merson won the latest Lees and Hey AS match on Candy Corner. He had a 18lb 13oz of carp and small skimmers using the short pole with meat and pellet.

TODMORDEN AS are staging a trophy match on Croft Head Fishery on Sunday. Competitors must book.
