‘Massive game’ for Waterhead

RUGBY:
WATERHEAD are virtually at full strength for tomorrow’s key clash at home to Ovenden in Division Two of the National Conference League.
Play-maker Mick Diveney is expected to recover from the dead leg sustained in the defeat at Elland two weeks ago as the Peach Road outfit aim to cement their position in the leading pack.
Waterhead sit third in the table with Ovenden looking down on them in second.
Joint coach Paul Geener: “Everybody knows the importance of this game — it’s a massive one even at this early stage of the season.
“To get Mick back would be a huge boost. We lost our shape and concentration after he went off against Elland.
“We had an 18-0 lead and ended up losing the game. We can’t afford to let something like that happen again.”
In the Premier Division, Emerson Jackman’s Saddleworth Rangers side face Wigan St Patrick’s at Greenfield.
The hosts are looking to make it three matches unbeaten after a win and a draw, but it won’t be easy as Saints are one of five teams vying for the lead.
Second-bottom Oldham St Anne’s make the long trip to Millom in Division One.
The Cumbrians are only two points better off, having won two of their seven league fixtures.
