Finalists back in old routine

GOLF:
LAST year’s play-off finalists made winning starts as the new Oldham and District Golf League got under way.
Reigning champions North Manchester ‘A’ claimed a 7-1 home success over Dukinfield in West Division.
And Werneth set about going one better in impressive manner with an 8-0 whitewash of neighbours Brookdale in the East.
But result of the week in the ‘A’ division was Blackley’s impressive 6-2 away success at Stamford.
Fairfield’s first appearance in the ‘B’ League started with a 6-2 home win over Crompton and Royton.
