ANGLING:
OLDHAM Central AC’s first match of the year was a cracker on Staffordshire water Baden Hall.
The winner, Jim Wiseman, netted a superb 69lb of carp on the 16-metre pole and pellet.
ALTHOUGH weights weren’t as good as in previous weeks, Hollingworth Lake still threw up some decent nets in the latest open match on the venue.
Organiser Darren Stock, who reckons some fish are now spawning, won the match.
He had bream in the 1lb to 2lb 8oz bracket for 12lb 4oz on the red maggot and groundbait feeder cast 40 yards out.
EIGHT Bells AC’s match on Tarvin Sands Fishery, near Frodsham, saw organiser Les Powell scoop first place.
He employed double caster across at 11m for a 17lb 1oz catch which consisted of three carp for 16lb and a few roach.
CROFT was the venue for Todmorden AS members trophy — and John Mellor emerged victorious with 44lb 1oz of carp and chub on pole and meat.
Members must attach a photo to the back of the licence cover as failure to do this will mean it is invalid.
DAVE White, using the pole and caster, was first in the Monarch AC match on the club water thanks to 9lb 8oz bag of skimmers and roach.
BOB Harrison, with a 18lb 3oz catch which included two good tench, lots of skimmers and the odd chub, won the Medlock Bridge AC Bank Holiday Monday open on the Park Lake.
He used pellet on two lines at nine metres and the maggot feeder.
Weights were better in Saturday’s Medlock Bridge AC open on the Park Lake.
Brierley was first, with double-red maggot at 13 metres enticing five skimmers, one tench and two chub for 10lb 4oz.
