SPRINGHEAD edged to a 3-2 victory over Stockport Georgians in the Bridgewater Office Supplies Manchester LEague Gilgryst Cup final at Hyde FC last night.
Mark Ashworth broke the deadlock after 20 minutes for Springhead, only for their opponents to level immediately.
Scott Owen soon restored the lead and Richard Bennett's screamer made it 3-1. Stockport pulled back a goal with a penalty after Joe Cunningham's foul, but Springhead defended well after the break and claimed the silverware.
AVRO finished the Premier Division season in sixth position after a 5-4 loss at Heywood St James.
Boss Phil Brown had hoped to launch another title bid, having come second last time, but Hindsford strolled to the summit and finished 14 points clear of runners-up East Manchester.
Springhead were the highest-placed local side, ending in fourth position after a superb run of form.
Royton Town had to settle for eighth after a damaging mid-season slump.
