LEADING BY EXAMPLE . . . Werneth skipper Matthew Taylor hits out on his way to a top score of 40 for Werneth at Royton.

WERNETH are a club primed to go on a winning run says skipper Matthew Taylor.
His team lies in the bottom half of the Lake Garage CLL table after four completed fixtures which have yielded just one victory.
Werneth’s latest defeat came at neighbours Royton on Saturday, but their display against a confident Paddock outfit was rich in promise.
“Our attack is bowling really well at present. We just need a few more runs and and a bit of luck and I am sure the results will come,” said the 20-year-old skipper.
Werneth started the season on the wrong foot with a disappointing defeat at Ashton, before another loss at Rochdale and a much-needed derby success against Oldham at the Coppice.
Defeat at Royton, who reached their target with just two balls to spare, could not mask Werneth’s steady improvement and Taylor hopes to take that into what he describes as “a massive weekend.”
Milnrow are the visitors on Saturday, while Sunday sees a trip to Middleton in the first round of the John Willie Lees Wood Cup.
ALARM Bells must be ringing at Oldham following a fourth defeat in four matches.
The manner of Oldham’s setback at Monton and Weaste must have perturbed new skipper Zafar Jatoi.
An eight-wicket defeat against ordinary opposition doesn’t bode well for a team with designs on a place in next season’s CLL Premier Division.
