SOUTH Failsworth at Wembley ahead of their cup final showdown with Collis.
FOOTBALL:
BOYS acted like men at Wembley when South Failsworth School's football team demonstrated their sportsmanship after losing the npower Football League Under-11s Kids Cup grand final.
The talented youngsters, representing Oldham Athletic, were edged out 1-0 by Collis Primary, of Brentford. Despite this latest disappointment — they lost to Wycombe-based opposition in 2010 — the
players left their tears in the dressing room and emerged from the tunnel as flag bearers for the League One play-off final between Huddersfield and Sheffield United.
The school’s sports co-ordinator Emma Davies said: "It was gutting, but we are so proud of them. Their coach, Dr Stuart Barlow, deserves a huge amount of credit for training them.
"The boys were very sporting afterwards, congratulating their opponents. They dusted themselves down and went out as flag bearers."
