UPPERMILL and Bamford Fieldhouse, first and second last season, are leading the way once again in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
Bamford hold sway, albeit by a couple of points, after an eight-wicket demolition of Glodwick at Warren Lane.
Professional Darren Shadford is proving his worth at Uppermill, and the all-rounder’s 61 and five for 83 helped the lads from Leefields to a 12-runs win at home to Saddleworth, who were dismissed for 208.
That’s four defeats on the spin in all competitions for Saddleworth, who remain third in the table, four points ahead of Droylsden and Greenfield.
Droylsden, grateful to a late-order knock of 78 not out from Saif Ur-Rehman, beat Shaw by two wickets.
Greenfield slipped up at Moorside, for whom pro Stephen Grobler made 93 on debut out of a total of 169.
Gerrie Snyman’s 103 not out featured 10 sixes and six fours as Heyside defeated Micklehurst by 165 runs — it was the Little Hey Street outfit’s first win in the league this term — while Mudassar Butt took five for 33 for Hollinwood, who got the better of Austerlands by seven wickets.
And Kamran Hussain was among the wickets — the Pakistani pro picked up six for 30 — as Stayley defeated Friarmere by 50 runs.
