ROYTON'S season began in fine style, but the last fortnight has seen a dip in their fortunes which needs to be arrested.
Out of the Wood Cup, the ambitious Paddock outfit slipped to a crushing nine-wicket Lake Garage CLL defeat at the hands of reigning champions Norden.
Home professional Mohammed Zaman Khan made his side's top score of 41 and skipper Alan Durose hit 35 as Royton were bowled out for 143, Steven Wild taking six for 29.
On another bad day for our local clubs, there were heavy defeats for Werneth and Crompton.
Werneth went down by seven wickets. Crompton lost by 70 runs at home to Radcliffe, who batted first and racked up 211 for nine
THE battle between the leading clubs in the Saddleworth League and CLL went firmly in favour of Bamford Fieldhouse.
They cruised into the third round of the LCB Cup with a six-wicket defeat of Heywood at Hollin Lane.
