SHEILA Cooper spent most of last year unable to swing a club — 12 months on the Saddleworth member can’t stop winning.

The 23-handicapper clinched her first Chronicle Cup at Brookdale, and has followed up with victories in two team events and a Coronation Foursome qualifier.

It is a far cry from 2011 when a slip on the fifth fairway at Saddleworth resulted in a broken ankle and nine months on the sidelines.

“I managed a few holes in November and completed my first full round in February. It was a wonderful feeling to be back.”

Originally from Douglas Park, Glasgow, Sheila first picked up a club as a youngster, during family holidays. But it wasn’t until 40 years later that she decided to take up the game again.

Married to Hector, a non-golfer, Sheila set up home at Saddleworth 11 years ago.

“I’m blessed to play at such a course,” Sheila added.
