Club’s future in safe hands

Geener backs Slicker position
WATERHEAD have appointed Mick Slicker Jnr as their new director of football.
Slicker played all of his youth rugby at the club before signing professionally and playing at representative level for Ireland and joining Huddersfield Giants.
More recently he worked in the youth scholarship system at Huddersfield and was head coach of their academy team in the 2011 season. He developed young players such as Waterhead’s Josh Johnson.
His primary role at Waterhead will be to work alongside the club’s coaches and trainers to develop young talent.
Waterhead joint coach Paul Geener said: “Mick is the perfect man for the job. He is massive on youth development, something this club has needed for years.”
THE under-18s of Oldham RL Club's Extended Scholarship squad won 22-8 at Hunslet Hawks in the second of their six games over the course of the 2012 Championships Scholarship season.
They play at home for the first time this year against Halifax a week on Saturday, June 9 (2.30pm).
Saddleworth Rangers went down to a 62-16 defeat at Eccleston Lions in North-West Men’s League Division Four.
Rangers still await their first win of the season.
In Division Five, Fitton Hill suffered a 24-0 reverse at Culcheth Eagles. Fitton Hill remain one place above the bottom of the table.
In Division Two Oldham St Anne’s versus Wigan Spring View was postponed due to Magic Weekend at the Etihad Stadium, as was the Division Three clash between Higginshaw and Blackbrook ‘A’
