Royton batsmen need to get their act together, admits skipper
ROYTON skipper Alan Durose reckons his team are suffering from ‘over-achievement syndrome’.

Sixth in the CLL and Wood Cup finalists last season, the young Paddock outfit were expected to push on this summer. But, after a bright start, results have been disappointing.

The hammer blow came in the Wood Cup when they lost a game against Milnrow they should have won easily.

That came a day after defeat at Walsden, while last Saturday’s loss at the hands of champions Norden as far heavier than expected — by nine wickets.

Durose admits his team is suffering from a lack of confidence and is looking for the players to bounce back in Saturday’s home derby against Crompton.

Durose, in his second season as Royton captain, said: “When you have such a good season as we did last year – we probably over-achieved – it is always more difficult the next time round.

“But we are working hard to put it right.”
