So much at stake

MOTIVATION should not be a problem for our four local Lake Garage CLL clubs this weekend.
Each have ambitions to finish in the top half of the table and secure a place in next year’s Premier Division.
But as the inconsistent quartet are in the bottom eight at present, the need for points is acute and what better way to pick them up than by beating neighbours in a derby showdown?
First up are Royton and Crompton, who clash at the Paddock tomorrow.
A few weeks ago, Royton would have been overwhelming favourites to win this one, but Alan Durose’s men have stuttered recently.
Crompton, for whom Simon Wright is a key player, have been inconsistent, but may pose a serious threat to their rivals if they hit form.
Oldham play host to Werneth on Sunday and it will be fascinating to see which side picks up after some poor displays.
Tomorrow’s other action sees Oldham face a huge task at second-placed Walsden, and Werneth entertain Monton and Weaste in what their followers will consider a must-win game.
Royton take on Monton on their home turf on Sunday, while Crompton host Walsden.
The league table will be a lot more revealing come Sunday night.
