WHAT A WASH-OUT: umpires Chris Mayer (left) and Peter Darby stage an inspection before calling off yesterday’s Friarmere v Uppermill match in the Saddleworth League.
CRICKET: LOCAL cricket fell victim to yesterday’s appalling weather with not a ball being bowled in the Lake Garage CLL or Versasteel Saddleworth and District League.
It has not been decided whether the fixtures will be played later in the season.
Meanwhile, the CLL has announced its team to take on the Bolton League in the Inter-League Trophy at Middleton CC on Sunday (1.30pm).
Royton’s Chris McDonnell will captain the side, which also includes Werneth all-rounder Matthew Taylor.
Former Crompton spinner Dale Highton (Middleton) is in the CLL side, along with his Towncroft team-mate Scott Stanworth, who lives in Shaw.
