RUGBY: OLDHAM St Anne’s were once again on the end of a heavy defeat, succumbing 56-18 at home to Castleford Lock Lane in NCL Division One.
Slack defence and ill-discipline were at fault as the visitors, led superbly by scrum-half Danny Rowse, eased to victory.
Rowse converted eight of his side’s 10 tries. He kicked three conversions in the opening half hour to add to tries from Ben Kershaw (two), Paul Couch, James Cryer and Ben Mawson.
Saints replied with touch downs from Ben Clarke and Sean Thomas, plus a Lee Forsyth penalty, as they went in at the break 26-10 adrift.
Tom Wood and Tommy Taylor dived in and Rowse landed another goal to stretch Lock Lane’s advantage.
Martin Ryan barged over for Saints in the 55th minute, but tries from Mark Spears, Craig Duncan and Joe Groves, along with Rowse conversions, put the game out of reach at 56-14.
Jordan Hanley got a late consolation try for the home side.
