RUGBY: WATERHEAD survived a second-half recovery to beat Eastmoor Dragons 34-24 in Division Two of the National Conference League.
The Peach Road outfit were 28-0 ahead at one stage and were seemingly on course for an emphatic victory.
At 34-10 in the second half, promotion hopefuls Waterhead were still in control.
But Dragons refused to throw in the towel and had cut the deficit to 10 points at the final whistle.
Andy Sands, Ashley Wildman, Kieran Grennan, Terry Fitzgerald, Pete Davies and Mitchel Birch were the Waterhead try-scorers, with five goals from Michael Diveney.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers conceded 13 tries as they slipped to a 68-4 loss at Premier Division title contenders Myton Warriors.
It was an eighth defeat of the season for Emerson Jackmanis side, who remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the table. Centre Carl Booth recorded five of Warriors’ tries, with Richard Dunham and Christopher Wainman adding two each.
Rangers were 36-0 down at the break, and fell further adrift when Rick Hough went over.
Allan Dunham, Gavin Drewery and Mark Donnelly also touched down, scrum-half Kris Walker kicking eight goals. Rangers’ consolation try came from Adam Walker 13 minutes from time.
