Bowls: DARREN Griffiths, beaten finalist in last year’s Oldham Evening Chronicle Bowling Handicap, begins his quest to go one better at North Chadderton Social and Bowling Club tonight.
The second heats in the competition start at 6.45pm with practice from 6.30pm.
REIGNING Manchester Premier League champions Tonge suffered a setback in their bid to retain the title when they lost 11-3 (189-159) at South Manchester RBL. Only Jimmy Derby (21-9) and Thomas Dobson (21-12) managed victories for Tonge as a host of star players found the heavy green against them. Tonge are at home to Longwood next Wednesday (7.30pm).
