CRICKET: PLAYERS will put rivalry to one side when they join forces on Sunday in the Readers Inter-League Competition.
The Saddleworth and District Cricket League’s representative XI take on their counterparts from the Lancashire County League at Denton West CC (start 1.30pm).
It is a chance for the Saddleworth League to exact revenge for a seven-wicket semi-final defeat 12 months ago when the tie was turned into a 20-overs-a-side thrash because of rain.
Only four players from the Saddleworth side who lined up at Thornham — Alex Peters, Peter Roberts, Imran Asghar and Alex Griffiths — are chosen.
Steven Howard, fresh from his century against Greenfield, offers plenty of experience at the top of the order.
