CRICKET:
ANOTHER day, another complete wash-out in the Versasteel Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
From Ladhill Lane at Greenfield, to Moorside’s Turf Pit Lane ground high above Oldham, persistent rain left teams kicking their heels.
Visibility at Moorside was down to a few yards as the mist rolled in from the hills.
The was the fifth wipe-out of the season in the Saddleworth League.
While the first three rounds of fixtures will be played later this summer, there are no plans to rearrange last Sunday’s programme or Saturday’s matches.
The Per-Fit Windows Twenty20 Cup, first-round ties also fell foul of the weather, with no play possible on Friday. Clubs have 14 days to re-stage the games.
