OUCH: Shinny Bayaar after his clash of heads with Paul Edwards, which lost him the British flyweight belt.
Boxing:
SHINNY Bayaar has been released from his Tara Boxing contract after deciding to manage his own career.
The Mongolian flyweight (34) considered retirement after losing in a comprehensive points defeat to Chris Edwards in December.
His trainer Jack Doughty urged him to hang up his gloves but Bayaar opted to battle on.
Doughty explained: “I didn’t want him to carry on. Shinny came to me and said ‘I just want one more fight’, but I knew one bout would turn into two. The last thing I wanted was to see Shinny turn into a journeyman, and I fear that is the danger.
“He understood where I was coming from, it was a difference of opinion. Shinny came up with the idea of managing himself, so releasing him from his contract will probably help him with that process.
“We are still good friends. By no means did it end acrimoniously.”
Bayaar — nicknamed the ‘Mighty Atom’ — claimed the British flyweight title in 2009 after outboxing Edwards over 12 rounds at the Bolton Arena.
