JORDAN WHITE . . . the Oldham St Anne’s half-back is BARLA’s Man of Steel.
RUGBY:
WATERHEAD ARLFC and Jordan White, of Oldham St Anne’s, have been honoured by the British Amateur Rugby League Association.
The Peach Road outfit are the BARLA Club of the Year, while half-back White is the ‘Man of Steel’.
Prize winners will gather at a special BARLA presentation evening in Bradford next month.
Both Waterhead and White were nominated by the Oldham Amateur League for achievements incorporating the interim season and the new winter campaign up to May.
From struggling in the lower reaches of National Conference League Division Two to pushing for promotion, Waterhead have managed to turn things around in the last couple of years.
They have also forged links with Waterhead Academy in the hope of attracting new players from a young age.
White has been acknowledged by BARLA for his performances for Saints. Coach Chris Deakin said: “I’m delighted for the lad and he has obviously impressed opponents from the amount of man-of-the-match awards he’s got.”
THE Rugby Football League match officials development officer, Peter Brooke, is hoping to run a one-day referees course for players past and present.
