Sheila hits out over wrong-spot wrangle
A DISGRUNTLED pensioner has criticised local binmen who she claims “won’t go the extra yard”.
Sheila Cartwright, who lives in Sheepfoot Lane, says her rubbish has gone uncollected twice because she didn’t place her wheelie bin in the right place.
The 72 year old had put the black bin at the very edge of her drive, with the handle facing out. Yet she says it went untouched by collectors as it wasn’t technically on the pavement — just inches from where she left it.
She said: “This has happened twice now — they have emptied everyone else’s but mine.
“I rang and was told the bin was not in view for them to collect — how close do they want it to be?
“I leave it there because I don’t want to block the pavement.
“Now it’s going to be two weeks until the next collection and my rubbish will be overflowing. It just seems ridiculous.”
A spokesman for Oldham Council said refuse workers were returning to the street to collect the waste — and that workers would pay Mrs Cartwright a visit to defuse the situation.
