OLDHAM are hoping to give their Lake Garage CLL ambitions a boost with the acquisition of several new players.
The loss of Craig Joy to Royton and Michael Birkett to Werneth could be offset by the arrival of fresh faces at the Pollards.
Skipper Dr Zafar Jatoi said: “I can’t name the players yet, but they are local and we hope to sign them soon. We are also working on acquiring an overseas amateur.”
It has been a frustrating time for Oldham who, like everyone else in the CLL, have been hit by the dreadful weather of recent weeks. Jatoi will be particularly keen to play tomorrow’s fixture against fellow strugglers Ashton, having seen recent games at home to Werneth and at Littleborough washed out.
Joy is in the Royton side to face Unsworth at home tomorrow when Alan Durose’s side will be desperate to arrest an alarming slump. Joy fancied a move from Oldham and was happy to take over behind the stumps after returning to action from studies in France.
Werneth are another local team in the doldrums, but a home game against Clifton is certainly winnable.
Crompton, on the other hand, are a team seemingly on the up, though they face a tough trip to Rochdale tomorrow
