Pro-Am boost for Werneth

GOLF:
WERNETH host what is now widely recognised as the largest Pro-Am in the North-West on Friday.
This is the fourth year of the event, first staged in conjuction with PGA North as part of the Garden Suburb club’s centenary season in 2009.
And the club has managed to maintain the enthusiasm for the big day among its members and corporate supporters with 34 teams taking part this time.
The professionals and amateurs are both playing for big prize funds, thanks to sponsorship of the event by local building supplies company Joseph Parr (Alco) Ltd and there is an added bonus for the professionals if any of them can set a new course record — currently held by Bridlington Euro-Pro tour player Alex Belt, who carded a seven-under 61 in 2009.
