OLDHAM piled on the misery for Royton at the Paddock yesterday.

Zafar Jatoi's new-look team were dismissed for only 130, but hit back to bowl out their derby rivals for a meagre 86.

The game followed a familiar recent pattern for Royton, who were able to get themselves into a winning position with a decent bowling display only to fail miserably with the bat.

Only professional Mohammed Zaman Khan reached double figures, his contribution of 41 ensuring there was some modicum of respectability to the total.

Oldham’s total should have been within Royton's range, but once again their batsmen self-destructed.

After losing Liam Mason first ball to new Oldham signing Naeem Ashraf, Royton further imploded to a desperate 24 for five.

WERNETH registered an overdue victory over Ashton at the Coppice.

The visitors took first guard and were bowled out for 134 despite a fine knock of 62 from professional Asif Iqbal.

Werneth made short work of reaching their target for the loss of four wickets thanks to paid man Hasnain Abbas's unbeaten 82.

CROMPTON suffered their second defeat of the weekend when they lost by six wickets at Walsden.

Crompton made 186 for nine after taking first guard. Following rain, Walsden were set a revised target of 165 which they reached for the loss of four wickets

WERNETH'S Twenty20 match against Ashton tonight will be held at the Coppice, instead of at Rayner Lane. Ashton's ground is unfit following the weekend rain.

CROMPTON and Oldham were involved in two of the three Lake Garage CLL fixtures to beat the elements on Saturday — but they probably wished they hadn't.

Both lost, Crompton at home to Middleton and Oldham, who entertained Milnrow.

Friday's downpours left many grounds under water, so it was to the credit of the groundsmen concerned that any play was possible.
