GOLF: TWO local ‘A’ teams will go into extra time tomorrow in a bid to win a place in the Oldham and District League Cup semi-finals.
Crompton and Royton and Werneth were locked at 2-2 when the final match finished all square.
Andy Frizzell and Mick Gazey (C&R) and Werneth team captain Mark Abbott and Michael Farrimond halved the par five first hole at Denton in fading light and by the time they halved the par three second it was pitch black. There was no other option but to return to finish on another night.
Waiting for the winners of the tie in the last four are Blackley, who beat Denton 3 1/2 - 1 1/2 at Brookdale. The semi-final tie sees them return to the Woodhouses course. The other semi sees Brookdale take on Dukinfield at Blackley.
Brookdale beat Stamford 3-2 at Dukinfield with Mark Riley and Brad Keeling winning on the first extra hole in the deciding match.
