Second place for Squires in Lancs seniors
Date published: 29 June 2012
GOLF: FRESH from clinching a hat-trick of English senior titles, Alan Squires finished runner-up in the Lancashire equivalent at West Derby.
Favourite to keep hold of his crown, the Oldham member had to settle for second place behind Jeremy Morgan. The latter, a two handicapper, opened with a 74 then kept his composure in the final round when he overcame three bogeys in four holes from the seventh to cover the final eight with a flawless run which included a birdie at the 12th.
His two-over-par total left him two shots ahead of Squires, who returned a pair of 74s.
