FITTON Hill Bulldogs earned a hard-fought 29-20 win at Chester Gladiators in Division Five of the North-West Men's League.
Tries from Anthony Hilton, Aaron Fleming, Aaron Jiminez and two from Martin Kenny — along with four goals and a drop goal by Kenny — claimed two points for the visitors after an ill-disciplined opening.
Coaching duo Dave Hughes and Martin Swain were delighted with the win, stating their belief that recent changes at the club and a set of new recruits have helped generate a confident spirit.
"We are looking forward to building this club into one which is proud of its name and history," the coaches said. "With the new structure and coaching framework we feel we can do very well with a new and confident attitude."
Elsewhere in the competition, Oldham St Anne's 'A' lost 24-0 at Halton Farnworth in Division Two and Saddleworth Rangers ‘A’ suffered an identical fate in Division Four.
