OLDHAM angler Mick McDermott is on a roll after winning his second successive match in the Winsford Flash open events.
His worm and red maggot on the feeder accounted for 41lb of bream. Richie Smith was second with his 33lb 14oz of bream taken on similar tactics, while Oldham’s Dave Mellor came third with skimmers and bream totalling 21lb 12oz.
KEN Power (TRI-CAST Highfield) drew a cracker of a peg on Farm Road and showed that you can’t beat a good angler on a good peg. He weighed in a fantastic 10lb 7oz of big roach and gudgeon, which fell to squatt on the inside and red maggot. Runner-up Jeff Shaw took 9lb 6oz of skimmers and hybrids.
DARREN Webb is unstoppable at the moment. He netted yet another win in the Chadderton Mill AC evening series with his maggot and caster up in the water approach taking a massive 72lb 1oz of ide and a solitary carp taken on pole and pellet fished down the edge.
STRINESDALE Reservoir turned out nice for the Medlock Bridge AC open match, Darren Taylor (Saints) claiming top spot with long pole and maggot tempting 21lb 8oz of chub and skimmers.
He beat Bob Harrison (Team HB) into second — Bob bagged 20lb 10oz of skimmers.
STEVE Michaels and Ken Power (both TRI-CAST Highfield) are enjoying their time on Old Hough Farm Fishery. Steve managed a second best 29lb 6oz catch made up of tench, bream, skimmers.
I ACCOUNTED for 3lb 12oz of small roach and gudgeon and a few hybrids taken on red maggot in the TRI-
CAST open on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Beforehand, organiser Ken Power stated that pegs 12 and 13 were the two he didn’t want — needless to say, I drew 13!
DAVE Ireland topped the latest Monarch AC match on the club water with 27lb 5oz of roach and skimmers falling to chopped worm and caster.
STEVE Blackburn won the Lees and Hey AC match on Hampton Springs Rock pool. He caught 24lb 1oz of skimmers and roach.
