CRICKET: LUKE Procter provided a helping hand for Crompton on Saturday, but his efforts were in vain as the Glebe Street outfit's chance of Lake Garage CLL victory over Littleborough was thwarted by the weather.
Once again, rain had the final say in the CLL with only one game – Monton and Weaste's surprise victory over Heywood – reaching a conclusion.
Crompton had enjoyed much the better of it against Littleborough, reducing the visitors to 108 for eight off 29 overs.
In reply, Crompton were 11 for one when the rain returned and wrecked any chance of the game’s completion.
It was a similar story at Norden, where Werneth reduced the champions to 51 for five after 12 overs when the rain struck.
Royton's home fixture against Middleton also suffered an early finish after the visitors batted first and made 154 for four, pro Michael Smith hitting 49 and Tom Hardman 41.
Royton's reply was short-lived, though they managed to reach 10 without loss before rain ended play.
Oldham's game at Rochdale was abandoned without play.
NOT a ball was bowled in the John Willie Lees Wood Cup semi-finals yesterday.
That means ties involving Middleton and Rochdale and Norden and Milnrow will now take place on August 5, the original date for the final.
The final itself will be played on August 12, the planned day of the Burton Cup final for second X1s.
