County set up Roses clash

BOWLS:
GREATER Manchester reached the semi-finals of the Endsleigh County Championship with a hard-fought victory over Cheshire.
They will play old rivals Yorkshire in the last four on Sunday, August 5.
Manchester won by 21 chalks at the home venue of James North BC, Hyde, where they had seven winners.
Manchester had seven winners in a three-chalks victory at the away venue, the Red Lion at Frodsham.
They included man-of-the-match Andrew Cairns, who beat Glynn Cookson 21-10, and the Manchester man-of-the-match Steven Leach, who won 21-11.
TONGE star Gary Ellis won his third major event in eight days when he lifted the £500 top prize in the Daniel Thwaites Walmersley Conservative Club Classic in Bury. Ellis defeated his Tonge team-mate Jimmy Derby 21-14 in the final, having overcome another club-mate, Darren Griffiths, by the same score in the semi-finals.
