CRICKET: A PLACE on finals day is the carrot for Werneth and Oldham when they take on strong opposition in the Lees Bitter Twenty20 Competition tomorrow night (6.15pm).
Should Werneth beat Milnrow at the Coppice and Oldham overcome Littleborough at Hare Hill, they will take part in the semi-finals, at a venue to be decided, on July 22. The final will also be played on that day.
WERNETH wicketkeeper Robert Shaw and former Royton spinner Joe Lovell, who now plays for Heywood, are in the CLL colts side to play their Ribblesdale League counterparts at Read CC, near Blackburn, on Sunday (1.30pm).
The Reader Inter-League Competition group match is crucial to the CLL’s chance of reaching the final.
A CLL second XI team, captained by former Werneth player Paul Entwistle (Unsworth), will play the Bolton League in an annual friendly at Radcliffe CC on Sunday (1.30pm).
