Paul dominant in President’s event

BOWSL: SPRINGBANK’S Paul Heap won the Failsworth League President’s Handicap with a 21-13 final verdict over North Chadderton’s Steve Mellor at Springhead Liberal Club.
Heap was in dominant form, overcoming Peter Gartside (Blue Club) 21-9 in the semi-finals after beating home-green player Phil Tupman 21-17 in the last eight.
FAILSWORTH and District Bowling League delegates will hold a meeting on Tuesday (8pm) at Stanley Road Conservative Club.
The main item on the agenda is the individual merit draw.
TONGE had to settle for six winners and the aggregate in their Manchester Premier League match at their rainswept home venue.
Matt Gillies (21-8), Jimmy Derby (21-6), Thomas Dobson (21-20), Darren Griffiths (21-8), Gary Smith (21-15) and Gary Ellis (21-17) were the winners in a 9-6 (183-158) victory.
Tonge’s next Premier League match is at the Railway Hotel, Congleton, net Wednesday (7.30pm).
THE Oldham Evening Indoor Bowls League is on the look-out for new a team in the Tuesday Men’s Fours.
Two teams are also required for the Thursday Men’s Fours and one team needed for the Friday Mixed Triples.
