RUGBY: WITH confidence back, Waterhead are looking to put in a repeat performance at home to Normanton Knights in Division Two of the National Conference League tomorrow (2.30pm).
A team talk on the morning of last weekend’s match paid dividends as hours later the lads from Peach Road swept aside promotion rivals Ovenden 44-24.
Joint coach Paul Geener said: “We had gone off the rails a bit, so it was an important win.
“The players and coaches had a chat at training in midweek and also on Saturday, and both proved beneficial.”
Geener and Jon Perks can call on a full squad of players for the visit of Knights, who sit fourth bottom.
But the West Yorkshire outfit should not be taken lightly. They built up a 12-0 lead against leaders Shaw Cross Sharks in their most recent outing before succumbing 26-12.
BEATEN by a last-gasp drop goal at title-chaser Hull Dockers six days ago, Saddleworth Rangers are at home to Leigh East (2.30pm).
Emerson Jackman’s charges returned to the foot of the Premier Division after that narrow 17-16 defeat, but the performance was excellent.
It’s a big, big game for Rangers as only four points separate the two sides.
COACH Chris Deakin will be demanding more of the same when Oldham St Anne’s welcome Stanningley to Higginshaw Road tomorrow (2.30pm).
Victory over Castleford Panthers last Saturday lifted Saints off bottom spot in Division One.
